Studies show that women not only develop addictions for different reasons than men, but they also experience treatment and recovery differently, too. Therefore, at JourneyPure Center for Professional Excellence, we provide a women’s rehab program that is focused solely on clients who require professional treatment to address deep emotional pain and overcome destructive behavioral patterns. We understand that the professional woman often grapples with the desire for perfectionism, leading to the development of unnecessary stress and excessively high expectations. Through our program, we help clients begin setting healthy boundaries, learning how to live successfully without the abuse of drugs and/or alcohol, and prevent relapse.
Women and Trauma
At JourneyPure Center for Professional Excellence, almost all of our clients entering into the women’s rehab program have experienced one or more traumatic events that have contributed in some way to their addiction. According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), as many as 80% of women who seek addiction treatment have a history of sexual and/or physical assault. In our women’s rehab, we commonly see women coming through our doors with this type of history, as well as having experienced other traumatic events.
The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) reports the following as being the most common causes of trauma development in women:
- Sexual assault
- Childhood sexual abuse
- Physical abuse
- Domestic violence
- Sudden loss of a loved one
The VA also reports that women are more likely to develop PTSD than men, putting them at greater risk for developing an addiction to drugs and/or alcohol.
Through our women’s rehab in Murfreesboro, we at JourneyPure Center for Professional Excellence understand the unique symptoms and challenges that women face, which is why we put forward individualized treatment plans determined by clinical assessments.
Women’s Rehab Treatment Tailored to You
We treat professional women who are struggling with addiction and/or one or more mental health conditions. We do that using a number of different treatment modalities, approaches, and techniques, including individual therapy, group therapy, and experiential therapy.
Individual therapy occurs between the client and one of our certified therapists. Here, women will work with their therapist to understand the causes of their addiction, as well as determine how to rectify the issues that developed as a result of their abuse. Through individual therapy, the client can feel safe and comfortable sharing traumatic experiences in a manner that helps promote positive growth.
Group therapy, which is led by a therapist, can also provide women with a secure outlet to share their thoughts and stories. By coming together with other women in the program, clients can develop a bond over mutually shared emotions and experiences and begin to move forward on the road to recovery through that partnership. Group therapy in our women’s program is also beneficial as it is gender-specific, making it easier for women to share amongst one another without feeling fearful, shameful, or embarrassed in front of men.
Clients are also encouraged to participate in the many different experiential therapies that we provide, including yoga, equine therapy, and adventure therapy (which includes activities such as kayaking and ropes courses). Through experiential therapy, clients can access deeply rooted emotional feelings, utilize an outlet to work through it, and develop the self-confidence needed to continue making progress in their recovery.
The women’s program also offers family therapy (which includes a family weekend event), art therapy, songwriting therapy, 12-Step based programming, and nutrition education.
Typical Day Schedule in the Women’s Professional Program
The women’s rehab is a residential program, meaning that clients live in our beautifully furnished, southern-style Murfreesboro home. The program is designed for a small group of women, meaning that the facility is never over-crowded or overwhelming. Clients are made to feel comfortable on a daily basis, allowing them to focus on the day’s tasks.
Each and every day at JourneyPure Center for Professional Excellence is not going to be the same as the next, howeve,r we do work hard to implement a structured schedule for all of our clients.
