Professionals are often driven, highly successful individuals who become leaders within their respective fields. However, when addiction and compulsive behaviors replace the passion they have for their careers, everyone around him or her can begin feeling the effects. Through the therapies that we provide, we strive to help these professionals achieve complete healing so that they will be effective once again in their careers, and happier and healthier with themselves as an individuals.
Treating More Than Just Addiction
To truly achieve lasting recovery, it is imperative to address the root causes of one’s addiction. At JourneyPure Center for Professional Excellence, it is our clinical mission to put a person on the path to complete healing.
When an individual is actively addicted, his or her mind, body, and heart become neglected, causing the individual to struggle with a number of effects. Some of the ways in which the mind, body, and heart can be negatively impacted in the face of addiction include the following:
- Mind – The abuse of toxic substances can cause severe psychological distress, including the development of symptoms related to mental health illnesses, delusional thinking, poor judgment, and inability to make healthy decisions.
- Body – Without a shadow of a doubt, the abuse of any kind of substance will have a negative effect on the physical well being of the user. While it depends on what types of substances are being abused, individuals can experience seizures, vital organ damage, poor hygiene, weight loss or gain, or gastrointestinal problems, to name a few.
- Heart – When all an individual’s focus is placed on their addiction, they neglect the things that used to make them happy, fulfilled, and satisfied in life. For example, these individuals might stop participating in activities that they once enjoyed, distance themselves from loved ones, or lose sight of dreams and aspirations.
At JourneyPure Center for Professional Excellence, we implement an individualized treatment plan based on the specific needs of each client so that both the addiction and any underlying mental health conditions can be effectively treated. While in our care, clients will receive treatment from a multidisciplinary team that includes a primary physician and counseling staff. Our staff works to help provide the treatment that will help restore the mind, body, and heart, so that the client can live a happy, fulfilled life of recovery.
Educating Our Clients
We believe that understanding the science of addiction is a critical aspect of the recovery process. We want our clients to have as much information as possible regarding addiction – in particular, the biological and genetic components, why it is difficult to break the cycle of addiction, and what to expect down the line emotionally, mentally, and physically as they continue in their recovery.
Another aspect of addiction in which we touch upon firmly is identifying and addressing triggers that could lead to relapse. With addiction being a chronic disease, it is imperative to understand what might cause the desire to use again and how to prevent it. We utilize family therapy to help inform not only the client but his or her family as well, about the risks of relapse. We do this in an effort to help decrease the chances of relapse occurring, because the more informed everyone is, the better outlook there is for the future.
Clients will continually learn about addiction and themselves as they partake in the many different therapies that we provide, including individual therapy, group therapy, dual-diagnosis treatment, and experiential therapy.
Continuing Care Plan
When a client is participating in our residential treatment program, our staff is continually working as a support system who supplies tools for success in recovery, which includes getting plenty of sleep and exercise. However, when our clients finish their residential treatment, they still need support to achieve success in recovery. This is why we offer continuing care plans to all clients as they leave our facility.
While continuing care plans will vary from client to client based on his or her needs, most often we will recommend attending 12-Step meetings on a regular basis. In addition, we also encourage clients to remain connected to our alumni program by coming to weekly meetings and participating in planned outings.
Another aspect of continuing care plans include downloading the JourneyPure Coaching app. Through this app, clients can have access to their very own recovery coach who will monitor app activity and provide continued support. This is a free option for all clients for one full year following treatment.
